Power Distribution

Basic Rack PDU
(1.4 kW - 12.5 kW, 15A - 50A, Horizontal or Vertical Mount)

Power distribution for rack-mount equipment

The most mounting options in the market.
APC offers a wide variety of Basic Rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs), which allow users to distribute power outlets to rack-mount equipment. Horizontal and vertical units are available as well as a variety of power inputs and outputs to fit most power environments. APC now offers Basic Rack PDUs that mount vertically, without tools in the rear channel of a NetShelter VX.

Metered Rack PDU
(1.4 kW - 12.5 kW, 15A - 50A, Horizontal or Vertical Mount)

Power distribution units that monitor the aggregate power consumption of connected equipment

The most user-friendly network interface for monitoring current
APC's Metered Rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs) provide power distribution as well as equips on-site installers with the ability to monitor the aggregate current draw as equipment is connected to the unit. These Metered Rack PDUs also have alarm thresholds that when exceeded alert users of potential problems. These features help eliminate the possibility of an overloaded circuit.

Switched Rack PDU
(1.4 kW - 12.5 kW, 15A - 50A, Horizontal or Vertical Mount)

Power distribution that remotely controls power to individual outlets and monitors the aggregate power consumption

The first Rack PDU with high power density and switchable outlets
APC’s Switched Rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs) are premium solutions to many of the power management problems seen in today’s IT environments. Some of the problems are unauthorized use of power outlets, locked-up equipment, in-rush current, overloaded circuits, and the need of remote access to power outlets in the rack. The Switched Rack PDUs address these problems through individual outlet control, power on and off delays, current monitoring, alarm thresholds, and network management. Individual outlet control allows users to turn outlets on, turn outlets off, or recycle power to equipment, which can reboot locked-up equipment and avoid unauthorized use of outlets. Power delays allow users to determine the order in which equipment is powered up or down. Utilizing the power delay feature will avoid in-rush current, which can cause overloads. Monitoring the current draw at the rack level is key to avoiding downtime due to overloaded circuits. The Switched Rack PDUs provide an aggregate current draw, which can be viewed remotely or locally, via digital display. In addition, alarms will be generated based on user-defined thresholds to alert users of potential circuit overloads (NOTE: Currently available on select models only. Please see feature list for availablity per SKU). Users can access, configure, and control the Switched Rack PDUs through Web, SNMP, or Telnet Interfaces.

Rack Automatic Transfer Switch
(1.4 kW - 5.7 kW, 15A - 30A, Networked and Non-networked)

Provides redundant power to single-corded equipment.

The only manageable transfer switch in 1U
APC’s Rack Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), also known as the Redundant Switch, is a high availability switch that has two input power cords, one for each AC line, which provide redundant power to connected equipment. The Rack ATS is designed to supply power to the connected load from a primary AC source. If that primary source becomes unavailable for whatever reason, the Rack ATS will automatically begin sourcing power from the secondary source. The transfer time from one source to the other is seamless to the connected equipment. The Networked units have built-in network connectivity, which allows for remote management via Web, SNMP, or Telnet interfaces.

Rack PDU Accessories

Cord retention brackets and vertical-mount bracket kits to complete rack power distribution solutions

APC's Rack PDU Accessories contain bracket kits specifically designed to mount many of APC's vertical Rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs) into third party racks or enclosures as well as a cord retention bracket to help retain power cord connection to the Rack PDUs. Specially designated SKUs in the Basic, Metered, and Switched Rack PDUs can utilize these bracket kits. See features list to see if your Rack PDU is compatible with these brackets. See model names for rack vendor compatibility.

InfraStruXure™ Power Distribution Units
(3-Phase 40, 60, 80, and 150 kW)

Configured to order, factory assembled power distribution for Information Technology (IT) equipment in medium to large data centers

Simplify installation at half the cost
The Configure-to-order (CTO) process allows for the pre-installation of pretested breakers, cut-to-size power whips, load-test ports, and branch circuit monitoring boards. Build your InfraStruXure PDU to your exact specifications to increase speed of deployment, reliability, and cost savings. Integrated System Bypass Panel allows for UPS isolatation from the critical load. Equipped with circuit breaker panels to effectively distribute power to connected loads.

Power Cords
(2 ft (0.6 m) - 15 ft (4.6 m))

Power connector options for a variety of IT equipment
APC offers power cords (also known as jumper cords), which provide connector options to fulfill a variety of power requirements.
Use these power cords to connect your equipment to an APC Rack-Mount power distribution unit (PDU)/outlet strip, MasterSwitch product, Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), or UPS.
These power cords can also be used to connect your APC Rack-Mount (PDU)/Outlet Strip to a power source, such as an APC UPS, ATS, or separate branch circuit.
